At MapleStory 1st Festival, they have released information about this year’s summer update, MapleStory RED! Some of it is really exciting! I’m looking most forward to the Black Mage storyline additions, and obviously a certain reorganization~
Another conference will be held in June, giving further information.
The first part of this update is Revolution! Along with the following, they mentioned increased security, an item restore system for hacked users, and an improved report feature.
This involves balancing, for the Resistance, Knights of Cygnus, Heroes, and Nova classes. I think we already saw some of these changes in the previous patch.
Wait, what about Adventurers?
Don’t worry! Adventurers will be receiving a complete overhaul! They did show some tiny clips of the characters in game but I couldn’t really see anything… there were some cool quotes though!
- The knight of absolute defense, Paladin
- The undying Dark Knight
- The warrior who maximizes damage, Hero
- With powerful stacking DoT attacks, they rule over fire and poison, F/P Archmage
- Freezing enemies then using shocking attacks, I/L Archmage
- The core of any strong party, Bishop
- Various cool rapid fire attacks, Bowmaster
- Precise sniper of one shot, one kill, Marksman
- MapleStory’s strongest instantaneous burst, Thief
- Powerful and brilliant maneuvers, Pirate
Of course, Dual Blades and Cannon Shooter are also adventurers! They’ll be receiving special changes to become stronger!
They also mentioned something called the Free Advancement system! It says below “Advance to your desired job!”, but what does that mean? Maybe we can freely change our classes now…
Oh, you can also see the new art for the Adventurer magician, warrior, and archer. Other classes also received new illustrations but they’re not as drastically changed as these.
A storyline will be added for the Adventurers! Now, the real adventure will unfold!
Next up is Evolution! They mentioned that users who do not buy Cash will have just as much fun as those who do.
Rewards will be increased while playing MapleStory! I’m not sure what this means, but I guess you’ll get more stuff as you level up or something.
A convenient way to trade items, the Auction House will be added! This is something a lot of people have wanted for a long time, haha.
They mentioned the Mobile link, where you can link MapleStory to your phone. There’s not really any details about it but they did show Monster Life, which can probably link to Maple Village, the mobile game Nexon released a while back.
The final part of RED is Delight!
A new continent, as well as new hunting grounds and new content will be added!
Something called a world alliance, where all characters from every world can be together in the same place! What?? I really doubt they’re going to merge all the worlds…
The Black Mage’s Commanders are invading! Participate in a real time battle against them! Does anyone recognize the town shown in the first picture? Maybe it’s a new area…
A giant boss will result in a 1 vs 100 boss fight! Wow, 100 people fighting together, how big would that map have to be?
Looks like Super Fight (PVP) will be returning with a new mode, where one person controls a boss monster and the other must defeat them!
Boss rewards will be enhanced to make them stronger!
The profession system will be receiving a huge reorganization! This includes being able to create scrolls!
Next, they showed this video, starting at 3:50 (thanks to Spadow!), titled MapleStory: The Child of God. As you can see, it features many of the commanders of the Black Mage as well as a new one! Who could this man with glasses be? Finally, we see that the goddess of time, Rhinne has been captured! Who are those two blonde haired children, and what do they have to do with the Tears of the Goddess?
Spadow found new job IDs with the quests that were added in last patch, which have to do with Rhinne, the Child of God, and even places called the Shadow Temple and the Mirror World. Interesting, isn’t it?
Finally, they ended off with this. V… could it finally be coming?
